Wetlands are used as filters to filter water before it enters streams.  They trap silt, nutrients, debris and other pollutants before they enter our water supply.  NC DENR and the Soil and Water Foundation are two sources of funding.  The best time of the year to plant is in the fall from Nov. to April.  This will help to get the plants established before the hot dry weather of summer.  Schools use these areas as outdoor classrooms so students can monitor nitrogen levels and nutrients in the wetland area.  If you have any questions please contact us through our website and we will be glad to talk to you personally.
